((OOC... AWESOME post Melinda!!)
Teren looked around, still a bit dazed as HER dragon dozed in the sand near the lake. Until now she had been completely absorbed with her new charge, but now she allowed herself to see the others, and which dragon was with which person. She caught sight of Torallen, with a brown dragon, and smiled at the infatuation. Turning her eyes, she watched Marissa with her stately and beautiful gold dragon. Teren smiled. In a way, she was relieved she was not chosen by the gold. She was far better at taking orders than giving them. And Marissa seemed to know everything she was supposed to do. Someone had had to tell Teren everything, from the feeding, to the oiling, to leading the dragonet to a resting place. Not that she minded, of course... she was more than willing to learn. She just felt that Marissa was well chosen, and she herself was content- no, far more than content, more like blissful- with her own little blue dragon. As she thought this, her hand stroked the ridges along Zirbeth's sides. His small body rose and fell with gentle breathing, a soft hiss of sound escaping his snout when he exhaled. She grinned, even larger. Were all the newly impressed as giddy as she was with her beautiful Zirbeth? She was loath to leave his side, even as pangs of hunger began to assault her stomach. She knew she had to go to the feast... indeed, looked forward to the food which smells had tempted her with all morning. But now... there was Zirbeth. Although he WAS sleeping pretty soundly, and, according to the WeyrlingMaster, would sleep heavily for a good few hours, during which she could slip away and eat. She sighed, and looked around again. She was sure she'd never been happier, and wait till she wrote her ma and pa about Zirbeth!

T'llen continued to feed Naureth until the tiny brown rumbled in satisfaction and sat down. Turning his head so he could see him, {Mine, I ITCH!! Please make it stop.}
T'llen laughed, found the oil, and set to with thoroughly oiling Naureth. Naureth sighed happily and arched his back. {Much better. Keep doing that.}
"I will. Hold still Naureth."
He finished oiling the little brown and led the now tired dragon over to a nice sunny spot by the lake. Naureth promptly curled up and went to sleep. T'llen stood there for a few minutes just gazing lovingly at him and stroking him.
Then he looked up and around to see who had Impressed what. He noticed Teren with her green and waved at her smiling. Looking about he saw that Marissa had Impressed the gold.
Now that he'd seen to Naureth's needs he finally noticed the insistent growling of his own stomach. The Hatching Feast should be starting soon. He didn't really want to leave Naureth but had been assured that he'd sleep soundly for several hours, more than enough time for him to slip away and get something to eat.

Wyshriath had also fallen asleep, though Banira was in a bit of a predicament as the small green had fallen asleep with her head in Banira's lap. She wished she could remain there and let Wyshriath sleep however she pleased but the feast called... Very gently she attempted to move Wyshriath's head with out waking her but was unsuccessful. {What's wrong, Mine?} the little green asked pitifully. {Why did you move Wyshriath?} "I'm sorry Wyshriath, I have to go eat," Banira replied apologetically. "I'll come back as soon as I can, I promise." She patted Wyshriath's neck reassuringly. {All right Mine, if you have to,} Wyshriath replied, stretching out on the sands and falling asleep again. Banira chuckled a little to herself.

((OOC: Attn all Newly Impressed PC's Please go edit in the Dragon info for your dragonets in your profiles. Include color shadings, size etc and personality. Keep in mind that any physical and personality characteristics I gave them at Hatching will/can change, even if I said they were the smallest/largest of their clutch at Hatch doesn't mean they will be at full growth, it's your choice. The only things unchangeable are base color and name Also remember to change your rank to Junior Weyrling.)) Weyrwoman Mirinda and Weyrlingmaster T'der watched the new weyrling pairs, 16 instead of the expected 15, with pride as they bonded. Once all the dragonets were asleep, and the weyrlings looking ready to finally let got of their new lifemates, T'der shooed the human halves of the pairs off to the Barracks to clean up. By this time a few senior weyrlings had already moved the belongings of the newly Impressed to the Junior Weyrling barracks. Mirinda congratulated each of the new weyrlings as they passed her on their way to the barracks and then headed off to the Lower Caverns to make sure everything was ready for the feast.

((OOC: I kind of speculated how their mind speech works. I know that people in the first book could "hear" the firelizards thoughts if they listened, even if the firelizards weren't try to speak them at the time. I think? feel free to correct... its been a while, must re-read!)
Teren stood slowly and stetched; she'd been unaware that she'd been sitting so long her legs had gotten stiff. She smiled crookedly at the others. "Hard to leave 'm, isn't it? But they had their fill, you know, guess its our turn now." She followed the weyrwoman to her barracks, and looked around, amazed. "This's home?" Her wide eyes traced the perimeter of the sleeping area, and the trundled beds for both them and dragonets. Glow pots were mounted on the wall over each door, and her belongings were already there, lovingly packed by ma and pa. She had the urge to write them, they hadn't been able to leave the hold to see her be chosen. She stifled the urge in favor of bathing, though. After feeding the hungry dragon, she was covered with bits of meat gore and sand. She brushed at her tunic and grimaced.
The bathing was heavenly. There was hot water for them all, and she savored every second. All too soon, though, her stomach began to chastize loudly enough that she couldn't ignore it, so she dried off quickly, and changed into fresh clothes. She checked the barrack's room again for any of the others. "Any'un ready? Do we go on to eat t'gether or alone?" She tugged on a braid, still damp from washing, and daydreamed about Zirbeth while she waited. She could still remember how clearly she heard Zirbeth's voice in her mind.
Suddenly, she was struck by inspiration. Closing her eyes, she tried to focus her mind and LISTEN as hard as she could for that soft, curious bell-like voice. Zirbeth's voice. She bit her lip and was straining herself mentally when she caught it, a whiff of dragon's voice. {mine,} she heard it say, faintly. {all the meat is mine, I catch it. Right, Teren? It's mine, right?} the thought was followed by a most happy dragon sigh, and easing up, Teren withdrew. She sat down with a whoosh, amazed. "I wonder if I can speak to Zirbeth, the way she speaks to me?" she murmered to herself. She determined to try it, next time Zirbeth was awake. Then she grinned. She loved life already here, and from the smells coming from the feast, she was going to like it even more in the next hour.

((OOC: Firelizards only communicate in emotion, not in words. Dragons communicate with both and their rider just has to train themselves not to speak out loud, being able to talk to them mentally is an automatic given with Impression, it's just a matter of conditioning them to not say it out loud too. Learning to block your thoughts and emotions from your dragon is the hard part Also I now have the website for this RP up! Please go to www.geocities.com/stardragon77/ The Dragonriders section is the bottom half, I will be adding Maps and other info there as quick as possible. In the meantime you should know that the barracks are set up like this- It's one very elongated room with dragon couches (made of stone) on both sides with beds next to the couches (About 50 all in all) and a clothes press at the end of the beds. The largest couches, for golds and bronzes, are nearest the doors with the couches getting smaller to green size at the back of the room. All couches are large enough to hold their respective color dragonet up through half their growth. An unusually small or large dragonet might take the next color size up or down if there are empty ones. The bathing chambers in adjoining rooms, one for each gender. I may edit this a bit as I make the map but this is close enough for now.))

(3/6/breakfast)
Weyrwoman Mirinda was already seated at the head table when the new weyrlings began to trickle in. They were directed to thier new table by the Weyrlingmaster as they entered, and instructed to have a seat quickly so that toasts could be gotten out of the way and food served.

As the smell of roast wherry began to fill the air, it was easy enough for Teren to follow her nose to the feast. Finding herself a seat at the end of one of the long benches nearest the fire and within good range of where she thought the bard would be sitting. Feasts, she had heard, were always accompanied with bardic music and songs of the dragons' heroic deeds and lessons. She kept an eye on the Weyrwoman, ready to follow cues. She had never been to a great big feast before; her ma and pa and the rest of her family were only holderkin, in one of the large holds. They had rarely been inside the hold itself, and never on a special occasion. She licked her lips and grinned. Zirbeth wasn't the only one with a voracious appetite! She caught sight of a young woman her age, pouring wine. Her eyes widened. Never had she tasted wine, as expensive as it was. Juice, once, when they were trading goods, and once a bit of watered down ale that her father had, but nothing else. Nothing as fancy. Apparently, weyrlife was a fine life. She settled herself more comfortably on the bench and watched the others drift in, sharing the same hungry expressions as they eyed the fresh sliced bread with clay jars of sweet jam.

Banira took a seat near Teren, licking her lips as she stared at the food. Her stomach growled and she blushed the slightest bit but she wasn't to embarrassed as she could here other stomachs rumbling as well. Turning to Teren, she grinned. "Well, that was fun, wasn't it," she said, referring to the hatching.

Teren nodded in response to Banira's question, an infatuated grin spreading across her face. "Wasn't it, though?" she sighed, dreamlike. "I never thought I'd get this far, much less actually have gotten Zirbeth..." She grinned shyly at the other girl. "My name's Teren, by the way," she said, and offered her hand. "I impressed with the blue dragon, his name is Zirbeth. You got a green dragon?" Her eyes danced with excitement. "Did you know much about dragons before this? I never did, only a few songs that I heard from the bards. I had to learn everything from watching everyone else!"

"Banira," Banira introduced herself, shaking Teren's hand. "I've been to a couple hatchings before this one," she explained. She grinned. "It was worth the wait for Wyshriath."

Teren grinned and then withdrew her hand to fiddle with her eating utensils. She was hungry! "Don't they eat a lot?" she said, refering to their dragons, sounding proud. "I can't wait to learn to fly... I bet they'll be great. Wonder what wing we'll end up in..." she bit her lip, as she realized she was getting carried away. She looked sheepishly at Banira. "Guess I been dreaming of this a while," she admitted. "You, too, right?" Her eyes darted around the room, looking to see when food would be served and when the famous music would begin.

Marissa hurried to the new barricks, where she found a new dress laying out on her new bed with a note from her parents giving her their congratulations. She grinned and pulled it on, then attached her new rank knots, brushed out her hair (which had indeed dried almost entirely on the sands), and, after deciding to leave her hair down loose, she followed the others down to the dining cavern. Everything smelled delicious... Her mouth watered. Without having had any breakfast, she was even hungrier than usual, so she quickly sat down with the others.
