Hello and welcome to another edition of "How to Role Play; for the Beginner" Today we will be going over Fighting, and how to propperly cary out acts of violence upon other characters. This is not for you children under the age of thirteen because I believe, by role play rules, you are not alowed to rp in violent role plays on this site due to the rp rules. I'm sorry. Come back when you're thirteen.
I hope we've weeded out the younglings and if not, oh well.
The rules for role play fights are raher simple.
1. You may not directly injure another character.
What does this mean? You must "try" or "attempt" to hurt the other characters.
Wrong:
Alex stabbed Jeff in the arm.
This is completely wrong! You don't give Jeff a chance to dodge!
Correct:
Alex tried to stab Jeff in the arm.
This way, Jeff can atleast try to dodge. A more literate answer would go something like this:
Alex lunged for Jeff, hopefully sliceing his arm with the knife.
2. One attack at a time.
This means simply you cannot:
He cut her arm, then her foot then slashed her stomach.
I don't even think that is a gramatically correct sentence, but the point gets across. You can't do too many things at once, however, you are allowed to do "Combo moves" which is where you would have a character attempt to kick the feet out from under someone then kick them in the face as they fall, or something.
3. Fatal injuries are no-nos.
I don't care what you say, you cannot kill another character without their permission. So when fighting don't do something like slitting a throat, slashing a stomach, stabbing the jugular, etc. Those are all fatal and if the character did happen to get hurt, he would die. You may only do this if the player (*snicker*) wants his/her character to die.
4. You cannot dodge everything.
Everyone has weaknesses. Your character is not going to go into a fight and come out unscathed unless s/he is immortal. Always get hurt atleast a little bit. Even if it's just a cut lip. For example, when dodgeing your character can always mis judge and barely get cut by the other character's blade or whatever.
Remember: Bullets are very hard to dodge. If youre going to dodge a bullet to the heart, you'll probably still get shot in the arm.
Well thats it for today. See you next time.
