The smith's face broke into a grin. He couldn't help it. He pulled her into a hug. "You know I appreciate it, darling. But if your father knew..." he left it ominously at that. "And what would he think of you, -- a 'Lady'-- all wet?" He laughed as he wiped a drowned curl from her face. Will then turned to Jack. "It's cos of her we were out there tonight."

The blacksmith snorted at the mention of the bumbling shopkeeper. "Who do you think left me here to close up? He didn't want to get wet! And he certainly won't go against his lazy streak to roll himself out of bed in this storm!" His laughter died down quickly. "Don't tell him I said that," he murmered sheepishly.

Jack laughed a bit, then said, "Don't tell who? That lazy drunkard who knocked me out with his bottle when we first met?" He rubbed his head, an injured expression on his face. "Which hurt, by the way..."

Will laughed at Jack's recollection and returned Elizabeth's smile. "Hopefully this visit to Port Royal will be less... complicated... than your last ones," he remarked to the pirate. "What brings you past this way anyway? Norrington on your tail again?"

Jack rolled his eyes. "Aye. The Commador(sp?) doesn't give up very easily," he said wryly. "And don't worry luv, I won't tell your dear father. Not that he would listen to me, anyway. I am a pirate, after all," he said, turning to Elizabeth with a grin.

"Right," he mumbled. "Don't get into any trouble while I'm gone." He opened the shop door to the rain and offered his arm. "My Lady?"

Again, Jack looked hurt. "See, the trouble is that I don't go looking for trouble--Trouble always seems to find me, though..." he informed the blacksmith.
