Well, Alberich didn't know any common or Valdemaran. His Companion "translated" for him until he learned enough to get by. Plus, chances are somebody at the Collegium will speak whatever language your char speaks natively, especially since a lot of Heralds learn other languages.

Very true Melinda. Also I would think a thief would pick up a few words of it else he/she would not be very good at thieving from traders. Of course if he grew up in a small town it's unlikely they would get non-Karsite traders too often as well... So... yeah it's a shade difficult but not impossible. And I'm still playing with the idea of introducing a Dyheli ambassador and having him dump the languages on those that need it It's not pleasant but it's effective

Glad you liked it Senna! Now for OwlSight and OwlKnight (though these are the last three chronologically in Velgarth) I highly recommend, when you get the freinds books to read (Yay for freinds, does he RP?), start with the Arrows set. Others may catch your eye but Arrows gives you the Best view of Collegia life. Then you should move on to the Winds set and then Storms. After that I suggest going back in the Valdemar timeline to the Last Mage set then even further back to the Gryphon set. After then there's only the Oaths, By the Sword, Brightly Burning and Exile's Honor to read... plus the various short stories in the anthologies. At leat I think that's all of them... Have to check my list at home... Oh and to answer your OOC on the IC post. Posts can never really be too long unless you are just rambling and repeating the same thing over and over (and it not the character being nervous or some such that's fine of course).

Oh good to hear! I just wrote up teh thief's intro story (how she met her companion/got chosen) and its a bit comical, really... and LONG. :-P Oh well, it'll be in the Karse area when I edit and post it. I think my sis has the arrowflight books... I don't think I got to read them though, just saw them lying on her bookshelf. All the good books are ones I borrow from my sis... And I've read both exile books... wish I still had the first one. Can't wait to read the arrows one. and the other owl books.

Sadness, Senna! Your left side looks so lonely and empty without an Avvie...

Um... when I said I wrote a long post.. I really meant long... It ended up being 5 pages in a word document... should I still post it? Admittedly, its terrible writing... novel writing is not my forte...

I suggest breaking it into 3 or 4 long posts, not sure this forum will accept something that big otherwise. This is one of the few cases where double (or quadruple as the case may be) posting is acceptable. ;D

Look good, very nice details. the only thing I noticed that seemed a bit out of place was the 'walls of Valdemar' I think you meant the walls fo Haven, the capital city Valdemar being the country not a city of course

Oh, good point... I didn't quite know if Valdemar had a wall around it, or just the city. Thanks I'll go edit! Thanks for being patient! And for reading it
