Ame ran for a while before she had to stop. The cold was making her scars throb, so she closed her eyes and shrank back to her preferred form. She shook herself, trying to warm up, and walked on, forging her way towards the border, hoping to find warmer climes. After walking for a couple of hours, she finally reached the Kingdom of Fire. Approaching a nearby village, she stopped, her nose twitching. 'The scent of an inu taiyoukai? A… a male?' she thought incredulously, sinking to her knees in a combination of exhaustion and amazement. 'I should have eaten something before leaving…' she thought faintly, grimacing and clutching her side as one of her scars painfully protested her recent activities.
((BTW, the inu taiyoukai male Ame smells is obviously Sesshoumaru. Just clarifying. ^^))

(Well, he is the only one, lol.)
Sesshoumaru took the parchment and signed his name in elegant Japanese characters. He then turned to Pyris and bowed half heartedly.
"I thank you for the lodgings and the meal," he said quietly. He then bolted straight up, a familiar, yet very old, almost forgotten scent.
*Another Inu Youkai?!* he thought incredulously. His eyes widened.
"It cannot be..." he whispered.

Tristan and Kratos made their way through the snow--Tristan had to trudge through it because of all his layers, but Kratos walked efforlessly, as if the sub-zero temperatures didn't affect him at all.
Tristan stared at Kratos as they walked, but didn't say anything. Irritated by this, Kratos was eventually forced to ask, "What? What is it?"
"How...how in the WORLD are you not cold, Kratos? You're not even getting frostbite, yet you're wearing almost as little as the Fire Kingdom citizens...I've been wondering this for a while, Kratos...You should be dead from exposure by now..."
Without a word, Kratos removed one of his fingerless gloves, and held up his right hand. On its back, there was a small, glowing, red stone set into his skin. "This," he said.
Tristan's eyes grew wide. "That's...a FireIce stone! How...how did you get one of those?!?"
"That is none of your concern, Tristan," Kratos replied as he replaced his glove, concealing the stone.
"Well, that explains it...I guess..."
"I am surprised you did not suspect it before..." Then again, no one ever has...Who would? After all, I am a poor, travelling mercenary...Indeed, how would someone like myself come to possess a thing that only the highest noble classes have? Hmph...how indeed...
"Wow...Youre really lucky, y'know that, Kratos? I mean, you're fighting skills are amazing, as are your magical skills, and not only do you have an Unfillable Pack, but you have a FireIce stone, as well?!"
Kratos remained silent.
"A FireIce stone...I wonder how those work, anyway?..." Tristan continued on. "Man, if I had one of those, I'd..."
Kratos, realizing that Tristan had nothing more to say, and he himself did not need to respond to the man, began to tune him out, and instead turned to his own thoughts. Indeed...how they function is quite an amazing work of magitechnology...
A FireIce stone is, as used by most, a temperature regulator. Although it must be directly attached to the skin to function, it is quite an asset in any travelling. It can allow a person to survive in below-freezing and super-heated temperatures at will. Mostly, FireIce stones are noble family heirlooms, passed down from generation to generation. They cannot be bought or sold, anywhere...

Finishing his bread. Kai stood, and offered his arm to Eyrie, to jumped up onto it, then scooted to his shoulder. Moving from the allyway, Kai glanced about. He saw the bread cart he had just stolen from, other merchants, and other normal things. But one vision caught his eye. A man, holding a loaf of bread, and another dirtier and ragged looking man, speaking to him.

"What if I have a job for you?" the man continued. Bakura paused. "What is the job and what do I get in return?" he asked in response. The man grinned. "A trip to jail," he said simply. "Thank you for confirming who you are for me. You're wanted, you know. And I'm a bounty hunter." Bakura fixed the man with a glare. "You think to catch me then?" The man pulled out a gun. "Nah, I'm thinkin' more along the lines of killin' ya." Bakura bolted, not bothering to stick around and inquire as to how the filthy man got such a valuable item as a gun.
((Hope the gun's okay, wasn't sure.))

Eyes widening, and not wanting to loose sight of this criminal, Kai threw his arm into the air and Eyrie took off from it and flew after Bakura. Kai on the other hand, watched the man with the gun, making sure he didn't see him, for he was as much well known a theif as Bakura.
Kai had heard of Bakura, heard he was a great theif. He had wanted to meet him, see if he had heard of him. Kai was known for how ruthless he was, and that he was wanted for many thefts and crimes.

Kratos looked up at the sky as another fierce wind blew. It's getting worse again...I should not have forced Tristan to continue on...He glanced back at Tristan, who, Kratos could see, was shivering despite his layers of clothing. Kratos himself could feel another dip in the temperature, though it did not bother him. We must hurry...He began to walk faster, earning a protest from Tristan.
"Hey, slow down a bit, Kratos! It's hard enough to move as it is...Between the wind and snow..."
"If we move faster, we may make it by late afternoon, Tristan..." If we are lucky...and if we do not run into any other beasts out here...Kratos and Tristan had already been confronted by several animals on the journey, and, though Kratos had been able to defeat them all...They had taken a considerable on him--not that he would let it show to Tristan.
Truth was, Kratos was suffering from several wounds (though none visible), and his magic reserves were almost depleted...If they didn't get to the city by late afternoon...Kratos feared he might collapse...
He pushed onward, his words having silenced Tristans protests.

The man fired several shots at Bakura but the thief was fast. He was out of site soon, slipping into an alley way. The man ran to follow him but the thief was gone.
From atop a small shop, Bakura watched the man searching in vain. He smirked to himself. Glancing up into the air he spotted Eyrie. 'Strange bird..' he thought, but dismissed it.

Eyrie cirlced high over Bakura, showing Kai his location.
Glancing up at the sky, Kai spotted eyrie, and below her, Bakura. Running to the side of the shop, he shot a nervous look at the bounty hunter, then shot up the ladder that was bolted into the side of the shop.
Arriving at the top, he stood, and held out his arm. Eyrie swooped down over Bakura, and landed on Kai's shoulder. Brining his arm back to his side, Kai moved to behind Bakura, eyes darting and inspecting every inch of the man.

Bakura didn't flinch when he felt Kai's gaze on him. "You need something?" he asked cooly, taking a bite of bread.

"I need a lot of things." Kai said cooly, returning Bakura's harsh tone, "But heck, I don't get half of them." He smirked, as Eyrie adjusted her grip on his shoulder. "Name's Kai. You must be Bakura."

Somewhat startled by Sesshoumaru's actions, Pyris herself straightened up. "What is it?" she whispered calmly. She readied her hand at the hilt of her sword, and her other at her chain clip. "I treat my company as well as I can." she whispered with a faint smile. Her childish ways had completely vanished, a heartless warrior seemed to stand in it's place. At the shoulderblades of her jacket, what seemed to be her muscles flex furiously. Her smile faded as she searched around her for some clue as to what had alarmed Sessoumaru.

Bakura smirked, though Kai couldn't see. Swallowing the food in his mouth, he replied, "I might be, Kai. Let me guess, you wish to meet a famous thief such as myself. That or you're planing to kill me."

Kai chuckled quietly, "Neither." He said, "I have quite a reputation myself in these parts, and killing you would be no fun." Eyrie cawed and ruffled her feathers.

"I caught the scent of one of my species. I thought I was the only one left, you see," he explained to Pyris, still awestruck. "I can't believe there is still an Inu Youkai alive besides me..."
Slowly, he began to walk forward, his feet half-dragging. He inhaled even more deeply, savoring the scent. His heart ached to see another of his race, even if for just a brief moment, for that would mean he wasn't alone...
It meant he had a chance of living a life with someone like him.
