Wandering around the fire kingdom, a demon surveyed the woods underneath the cliff he stood.
Emotionless eyes--one golden, one the milky white of blindness--were set in a face etched as if in stone. High set jaw, creamy skin. Scars, secret injuries, lay beneath his haori and undershirt, marring his body, though they were not visible now.
The very eyes were harder than ever, for he had seen much in his long life.
Yes, he had ruled over his own province even before the dragons had come, but now the lands were divided between Fire and Ice. He now wandered aimlessly betwixt the lands, nothing but a vagabond.
He was a spectator, although he knew that he would be dragged into any war they would have.
But not without a fight.
Memories plagued him on the precipice, memories of the young girl he had taken the utmost care in raising. In the end, she, being a human, could not live very long at all. And even his old vassel had passed on. His cousin, all of his family, had been killed. He didn't even know if another Inu Taiyoukai existed.
He knew his race would die out, and he no longer feared death.
But never would he give into it.
Sesshoumaru, the fallen taiyoukai lord, turned away and began to descend from his altitude.
(Tell me if it sounds stupid or what please.)

Kai trudged through the new fallen snow in the Ice Kingdom. He had boughten a coat and had it on. Eyrie sat on his shoulder as he moved at a fast pace to keep warm. His hands were in his pockets, and he kept his head bent so the random winds would not blow his hat off. The Ice Kingdom was going through its season of which it is very cold, and often snows. The season is supossed to end in a few days, and Kai is waiting till then, for now he has nowhere to go during the blistering winds.
Kai was feared by the city when he became enraged, and had earned himself the title as one not to be near. He had no home, no friends but Eyrie, and no place to take shealter during the snowy days. Most of the time he was left circling the city, continuing to move the keep himself warm.
He looked about, and saw that everyone else was peferctly warm. Many were inside their homes with fires burning, and the ones outside were just buying a simple gift, or dinner for their family, then rushing home. Shaking his head to clear his thoughts of stealing food, he continued through the city.

Pyris sat on the rooftop of a nuetral home. She looked over the fire and ice nations. Raised in the nuetral zone, Pyris had little knowledge of the wars. She dreamed of vistiting the nations around her. <One day I will go there.> She lept off the low roof and slid into her window. She covered herself in bed and lay down to rest.
The next morning, Pyris decided to set out for her dreams. She gathered a few belongings, and visited her dojo to gather her sword and chain. With that completed, Pyris set out along the edge of the rival nations. Both nations calling to her equally, she wandered into the nearest village, unknowing of her own wearabouts.

Kai brought his hands out from his pockets and wrapped them around himself, shivering. He kept his head hung low, and more then once almost ran into someone. "I swear Eyrie." He said, "It's getting colder by the second." Eyrie cawed and rustled her feathers.

When Sesshoumaru reached the ground level, he entered the nearest fire village, searching for work.
After all, one must live, and to live is to work. Even if he was a demon, that shouldn't matter to anyone else if the jobs that he did--odd as they usually were--were done well.

Pyris looked over the village she had entered. It was hot, yet, unusually cold. She looked around her at the black-stained buildings. Debris littered the ground. <What happened here?> She kneeled to the ground, her chain slapping it with a thud, she ran her fingers across it. Something had charred the earth. She rose and glanced up at the sky. Smoke filtered the air in a suffocating blanket. <This is real. Not a movie from my rooftop. Not a story my father told me. It is real...A real thing that is really happening. What have I gotten into?>

As Kai continued to slide his feet through the three inch snow, he rubbed his arms to try and wam himself, but felt no different. Eyrie moved close to him and gripped his shoulder tighter, pircing his cloak and shirt with her talon, but not touching his skin. Why are we even here? Eyrie asked him. "Be-ccause Ey-rr-ie." Kai said through chattering teeth, "I-it-t's tt-hhe che-eape-ess-t tt-town." Well money won't be an issue when your frozen to death! She retorted. Besides... you can just steal like you always do.
Kai made no answer to this, but turned and began to walk back the way he had came. Towards the city gates. That's right, listen to Eyrie. Eyrie mocked. Kai would of boped her, but he felt that if he unfolded his arms he would become even colder.
Arriving at the gates, the guards looked at him in surprise, not only to see him leaving, which he never did, but to see him on out in the cold. "Just op-pen them." Kai said, trying his best not to sound cold. The guards nodded and pulled the gates open, allowing Kai to walk through.
Kai walked down the path, and the father down he got, the warmer it became. Eyrie loosened her grip on his shoulder, and he unfolded his arms, returning his hands to his pockets. "The snow season should end tommarow...that's when we will go back." He told the hawk, who nodded in agreement.

Hearing footsteps farther behind her, Pyris whirled around. "He...Hello?" She squinted her eyes to see the figure far behind her. "Who are you?" Unsure of this new arrival, Pyris gripped her blade tightly. She slid it out of her sheath quietly and drew it in front of her. <Just in case.>

Sesshoumaru could hear the drawing of a sword nearby, and his hawklike vision caught sight of a fire hanyou girl. He couldn't identify her other half.
"Sheathe your blade. I mean no harm," he said dully. His golden right eye--for the left was blinded--focused on the girl.
"I am a vagabond in these parts, and only wish to seek work. Do you require any paid assistance?" he asked, skipping right to the point as he normally did.

Bakura drew his coat around him a little, chilled by the cool air. The wind blew his wild hair about, making it more of a tangled mess then it all ready was. He was walking towards a town he knew was not far off(incidently, the same one Kai just left). He hated the Ice Kingdom but had recently taken a job there and now needed supplies before journeying to warmer climate. Around his neck, in plain site, was a pendant made of gold, Egyptian in style. It was both a weapon and an heirloom to Bakura. It's creation had caused the death of his own village. He had paid back the person responsible and taken the Millennium Ring, as it was called, for himself.

Kai looked up at Eyrie, who nodded. "It should be about time." He said. He headed back towards the city, it grew colder as he went, and when he arrived at the gates, he could see the blizzard had lessened. He nodded to the guards, who allowed him back in, and he continued to circle the city as he had before.

Pyris looked at the new stranger. "Well, that's an interesting introduction. I'm new around...Can you show me around?" She lowered her sword, but did not sheath it.
(It could've been whoever wanted to jump in.)

"If that is what you wish. But keep your comments to yourself, I do not wish to hear about what an outsider I am. I am aware of it."
Having been around since before the cities of Fire and Ice were built, Sesshoumaru knew pretty much everything about each. He just didn't like living in either.
He kept his wary eye on the hanyou, making sure she didn't get too cocky with that sword out as he led her further into the city.
*I will not get any money for this, I expect, but it is better than making an enemy in these times...*
