(Myr and Starshine)
"We are most pleased you have come Ambassador Starshine." Karden replied with the ease of long hours in the small throne he currently occupied.
"Yes most pleased." Elena spoke up. "We were sorry to see Silverhand retire the position as he had held it for a long time and become a good friend. Though we can certainly sympathize with him wanting to return to his home to watch his grandchildren grow up. We very much look forward to knowing you better." She said her smile warm and genuine.

Malloriel followed alongside of Nora as she led the way to the Companion's stables. Upon hearing that all of Varrin's care would be up to her after today she just shrugged. She was used to caring for horses and she figured that caring for Varrin would actually be alot easy than that. Something occured to her just then and she smirked to herself, ::I bet alot of the 'gently reared' trainees are completely hopeless when it comes to careing for their Companion.::
Snorting in amusement and rolling an eye back so he could see her, ::They most certainly are. To give them credit they do learn rather quickly after the first couple of mistakes.::
::I should think they would after thoroughly annoying their Companion with their initial mistakes.::
Varrin just snorted and tossed his head.
Dispite the side conversation she was still paying close attention to what Nora was saying.
Uniforms!? What uniforms? She knew full Heralds wore gear all in white but knew nothing about what the Trainees wore. Varrin helpfully supplied an image of a trainee in Grays. Oh. Uh, not much on fashion are they. Giving a mental shrug, oh well, I'll deal with it.
That she would have chores was also not unexpected so she just nodded. Glancing over at Nora with a puzzled look,"Testing? Testing for what?"

(Myr, Starshine, and Monarchs)
Starshine smiled and nodded. "He has wanted to have more time for his family for several years now, but waited until there was somebody he felt was best suited for the task. I am honored to have been chosen by him as his successor." Tyr bobbed his head in agreement.

Nora grinned. "Oh the usual stuff. What kind of subjects you know and how well. Like Math and Geography. You'll also be tested for Gifts and thier potential power level." Arriving at the stables she waited while the pair parted. "This way then. That large wing there is Heralds Collegium." She said pointing. "Over there is the bridge into Companions Field, and way over there," She pointed in the opposite direction of the Field, along the palace. "Healer's and Bardic Collegium's are over there."

"Then we are doubly pleased to have you. Please if you have need to speak with us at anytime simply let us know." Elena said with a smile, a clear dismissal as there were obviously others awaiting the Monarch's attention.
Myr motioned Starshine to proceed her away from the dais. "If there is anything you feel should come to the Monarch's attention immediately it is generally best to let me know. A page is not always given immediate entrance." She said quietly, it was a well known fact that if you wanted the Monarchs to know about something fast then Myr was the one to tell. "For anything not requiring immediate attention a message via page is best. They do try to get to everything in a day and with the two of them they even manage most days." She said with a small smile.

Starshine smiled and nodded. "I can see that they must be very busy," she commented. "How often do the ambassadors meet in council, and what other meetings am I expected to attend?" she then asked.

(Myr and Starshine)
"Ambassadors tend to have meetings with each other at your discrection and with the Monarchs are need, unless it's something you can bring before the Main Audiences. Those happen twice a sevenday. Open audiencces are once a sevenday. You also are allowed to attend the Council meetings which happen twice a sevenday and are expected to attend the High Council meeting every other sevenday." Myr said. "Unless there's something big going on we really don't have too much you have to attend."
She stopped walking once they were back among the throng of courtiers. "Would you care to remain and mingle? Or I can have a page show you back to your rooms if you prefer to rest. Or a page can show you around the place more if you like. I have to get back." Myr added nodding back towards the dais. "Unfortuantely I have to attend every non-private meeting of theirs. It does get wearing on a girl." She added with a touch of lightheartedness. "Good thing I love my work."

"Thank you," she said. "I believe I will return to my rooms for now and unpack my things. If I decide I would like to be shown around more, how will I find a page?" she asked. It was good to see that the Monarch's Own enjoyed what she did. It was good for anybody to enjoy their work, but especially somebody who lived it every moment of every day, as Myr obviously did.

"There's almost always one of the scamps lurking in the Ambassador's wing. Usually down by one of the Guards." Myr replied. "But if not one of the Guards can always summon one." She added. "Now I'll take my leave of you. Enjoy your evening and please don't hesitate to ask if I can help in some way to make your settling in go smoother." Myr said and with a bow turned back towards the dais and it's occupants already deep into an audience with a wealthy looking man, a merchant by his dress.

(Starshine, any)
Starshine nodded her thanks, then made her way back to her rooms, getting lost only once or twice. They really could use some of the codes the Tayledras had, she thought as she went into her room and Tyr flew to his perch and looked out the window. :Hunt?: the bird asked. "Not now, Tyr. I need to find out the rules about Bondbirds hunting, first." The raptor seemed dissapointed, and she laughed. "You can't be hungry. You ate not that long ago," she reminded him, and he ignored her comments. Smiling, she went into the bedroom and unpacked her things, then, after opening the window so Tyr could join her if he wished, she went out for a walk through Companion's Field.

Malloriel listened as Nora explained about the testing and nodded. "I can see how that would be very useful." Chuckling, "I know one class I'm definately going to have to take. I can't expect everyone to know Common or Shin-a-in in order to talk to me so I'd better learn Valdemaran quickly."
They arrived at the stables and Malloriel reluctantly parted from Varrin and followed Nora. She really didn't want to leave Varrin but realized she didn't have much of a choice.
Sending comfort, ::Don't worry Chosen, we'll be together soon and often. It's actually a requirement that we spend alot of time together developing our bond.::
Surprised but happy, ::Really! That's great. First chance I get after you've rested I want to do some proper riding around Companion's Field, without the saddle.::
Mental laughter, ::That sounds great. We'll definately need to make time for that.::
Refocusing her attention on Nora and her surroundings she caught what Nora was saying about where things were and made sure she fixed those locations in her mind for later use.

(Malloriel and Nora)
"Now." Nora continued as she opened one of the double doors into the Heralds wing. "The ground floor is classrooms. Most everyone has classes here with only the Healing and Bardic specific ones taking place in those Halls." She gestured at the stairwell up. "Second floor is the dorms, boys in this side the Common or Dining Room in the middle and Girls dorm on the other side. Third floor is all the Library. You have access there any time but books may not be taken out."
She then turned down another set of stairs. "This side of the underground level is my office and the supply room. The other side, gotten to by a set of stairs at the other end, is the Kitchens. Everyone takes turns as various helpers in there as well as with mending and sewing with me." Nora explained as she went down the stairs and opened a door at the bottom.
"Have a seat and we'll get you all figured out for chores and uniforms." She said and waved at the chair in front of her desk as she took out a key from in a uniform pocket and opened a door in the back wall. A door that led to a vast space with several rows of shelves.

Malloriel followed Nora as she led they way paying close attention as she pointed out where things were. She was getting a little daunted by the sheer size and number of buildings. Right now she wasn't sure if she could manage to sleep in such a confined area and she remined herself to ask about a tent later.
Having reached their destination she obligingly sat down and waited. Thinking of something, "Do I have to wear the uniforms all the time or only when I'm doing something with direct connection to my studies? I mean can I wear my normal clothing in my free time?"

(Malloriel and Nora)
"Oh course course dear." Uniforms are only required in classes, during palace functions and when you are representing the Heralds in some way. But I'm sure you'll find that they are not so bad after a while, and you are allowed to add a scarf or some other such fripperies when it's not a palace function or other important to thing you're doing." Nora replied as she vanished into the supply room. A moment later she reemerged with a stack of shirts and pants.
"Here hold these up for size. I've two different ones there as I was unsure which would be more comfortable for you." Nora said with a smile as she sat the pile on the chair next to the one Malloriel had taken.

Malloriel sighed in relief, glad that she could not only wear her normal clothing sometimes but that she could add some colour to the uniform when not being formal. "I'm sure they're very nice but they're so....bland." Realizing that might not sound good she hurried to clarify it, "I mean they're not very colourful. But if I can add something to them and not have to wear them all the time then it's ok."
Hurriedly taking the sets of clothing Nora handed her she held up first one pair and then the second. She wasn't quiet sure which one was better so she tried it again and finally decided on the second set. Folding them neatly, "These will work fine."
